NIC recognises Australia's 'Sorry Day' 13 Feb 2008

Today is an historic day in Australian history, for we, as a county, rich in multiculturalism, honour the Indigenous peoples of this land, the oldest continuing culture in human history.

Our democratically elected government, today in the name of so many Australians officially voiced our sorrow at what happened in our name, in a much needed symbolic action of regret.

Here at NIC we also celebrated this historic act as our students are now living part of our history. At our assembly, we took the time to look at the history of settlement and the impact it took on our indigenous people through the laws imposed at the time, to celebrate the culture that is so unique and to listen to Australia’s, Prime Minister, Mr Kevin Rudd express the sorrow of our nation and to look to the future that embraces all Australians.
